Biography:
Pietro Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver, first appeared in *X-Men* #4 (March 1964). He is a mutant possessing superhuman speed, capable of running and moving at velocities far exceeding that of normal humans.
In his original comic book backstory, Quicksilver is the son of Magneto and twin brother of the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff. Originally members of Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, they eventually defected and became members of the Avengers. He is known for his volatile temper and protective nature towards his sister.
The character has gone through several iterations and re-writes throughout Marvel Comics, and his true parentage and origin have been retconned multiple times.
